Paws on the Ground: Proof that Bridgwater can have nice things

I just followed my nose and arrived at this!

What an absolute treat of a weekend! Bridgwater was buzzing on Saturday for the Food and Drink Festival alongside the Living History Day, and the atmosphere across town was incredible. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in making it happen, especially Bridgwater Town Council for organising and running two such fantastic, seamless events!

Flash and I headed up first thing while vendors were still setting up, and he absolutely soaked up all the early-morning attention from people. Later on, the sheer variety of smells hitting you down the High Street was irresistible. I followed my nose straight to an Argentinian BBQ—and wow, yummy! I ended up heading back there later for lunch, and it was exceptional. It was so refreshing to see our streets packed, vibrant, and full of life—proof positive that we can have nice things in our town when we pull together.

After eating, I took an out-of-town friend over to Blake Gardens for the Living History Day. He was completely wowed watching the Medieval Knights relentlessly clashing with weapons, and he spent ages avidly listening to the Roman soldiers giving their history talks. The whole setup was brilliantly hands-on. Channeling my inner teacher, I couldn't help chiming in with a few extra snippets of local Bridgwater history along the way, and he was fascinated.

It was brilliant seeing an event bring the entire community together like that—delivering a fantastic day of hands-on learning in the middle of the school holidays, even for a fully grown adult!
